UPPER SANDUSKY — Galion’s tennis squad made the journey to Upper Sandusky on Wednesday afternoon to meet up with the Rams in a non-league contest.

Head coach Tom Pawsey switched things around a bit as far as who played where but Upper got the best of the Tigers, winning 4-1.

The lone point scored for the visiting Galion squad was provided by Lucas Conner at second singles. Conner needed three sets to capture the victory; 2-6, 6-4, 6-0.

In other singles action, Landon Rose was defeated at first singles; 0-6, 3-6 and Bryce Barnhart, usually part of the second doubles team, lost at third singles; 2-6, 0-6.

Nic Oehler and Matt Sparks suffered a rare loss at first doubles; 1-6, 3-6 and Max Papenhausen teamed up with Tyler Harris in second doubles and were defeated; 4-6, 4-6.

Galion is now 10-7 overall this season and remain at 4-5 in the Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference.

Jonathan Alder is scheduled to travel to Galion to face-off against the Tigers in league play on Thursday May 4. On Saturday, Galion will compete in the MOAC tournament, originally scheduled for last Saturday. Action will be at River Valley High School or Grant Middle School in Marion. Rounding out the regular season for the Tigers will be a trip to Bucyrus on Monday May 8 and then a home, non-league match against St.Pete’s on Tuesday.
