Tigers tennis get back to winning ways

MARION — After dropping two contests to undefeated Buckeye Valley last week, Galion traveled to Marion to face-off against the Presidents on Tuesday May 2 in Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference action.

The Tigers would bounce back to defeat Harding, 4-1 to improve to 10-6 overall and 4-5 in the conference.

Lucas Conner would start the scoring for Galion, winning his second singles matchup by a score of 6-3, 6-0. Also scoring in singles was Landon Rose at third singles. Rose was victorious in straight sets; 6-4, 6-4.

Tyler Harris dropped his first singles match on the afternoon; 5-7, 2-6.

Both of the doubles teams from Galion would win their matches on the day.

Nic Oehler and Matt Sparks cruised to a victory at first singles; 6-2, 6-2. At second doubles, Max Papenhausen and Bryce Barnhart also earned a 6-2, 6-2 win.

Galion will be on the road to face the Upper Sandusky Rams on Wednesday and will then host Jonathan Alder on Friday May 5. The rescheduled date for the MOAC tennis tournament is set for this Saturday at River Valley High School and Grant Middle School in Marion.
