PAINESVILLE — Galion will take on Cuyahoga Falls North this evening at the Ohio 12U Little League State Tournament.

Galion rebounded from an opening game loss to post a 2-1 record in the state tournament. Hamilton West Side shut out the orange and blue 16-0 on Sunday in Galion’s first game of the tourney.
Galion rolled past Maumee 10-0 on Monday to stay alive, and then survived a scare from New Albany on Tuesday to earn a 5-4 win and advance to this evening’s loser’s bracket semifinal game. The Galion-Cuyahoga Falls North winner will play either Wheelersburg (2-1) or Mount Vernon (1-1) at 5 p.m. Friday. Those teams also play today.
Cuyahoga Falls North dropped to 2-1 in tournament play after losing 6-5 to North Canton on Wednesday. Cuyahoga Falls North defeated Maumee 5-3 last Saturday and scored a mercy rule win over Geneva by a 14-1 count on Sunday.
Hamilton West Side (3-0) and North Canton (2-0) are the only undefeated teams left in the tournament and they square off today at 7:30 p.m. Hamilton has won all of its games via the mercy rule, posting a 24-4 win against Wheelersburg on Saturday, then handing Galion a 16-1 defeat on Sunday. Hamilton shut out Mount Vernon 15-0 on Wednesday.
North Canton defeated Canfield 10-4 on Sunday and edged Cuyahoga Falls North on Wednesday.
