Lady Eagles win two to open their softball season

NORTH ROBINSON — While the boys baseball team from Colonel Crawford was busy hosting a double header, the Lady Eagles were doing big things on the softball diamond.

Colonel Crawford played just one game on Sat. March 25 to open the season but won in emphatic fashion, 10-0 over the Willard Lady Crimson Flashes. The game was called after just five innings as Crawford started scoring early and never let up.

The pitching was also a main component in the victory, as Sydney Studer dominated the day. Studer pitched all five innings, allowing just one hit, walking two batters and striking out nine. Studer also picked up three hits at the plate, including a double.

Alexus Burkhart also recorded a three hit day and Abbi Teglovic had two, including a double. Abbi Bradshaw picked up the final extra-base hit for the Lady Eagles, earning a triple.

For the game, Willard had a single hit while committing four errors on defense. Colonel Crawford put up a 12-spot in the hits category and committed two errors.

Lady Eagles record second straight one-hitter

NORTH ROBINSON — On Monday evening, the Colonel Crawford Lady Eagles played in their second game of the season, this time against the Plymouth Lady Vikings.

For the second straight game to start the year, Sydney Studer pitched another gem, earning the win while allowing just one hit, walking one batter and striking out 13. Studer has been the winning pitcher for head coach Chuck Huggins thus far. Studer also had two hits at the plate on Monday.

Alexus Burkhart stayed hot at the plate and recorded another multi-hit (2) game, with one of those knocks being a triple. Stefanie Huggins also hit successfully twice. Kerri Reynolds (double) and Danielle Horsley (double) had the other extra base hits for the Lady Eagles in the win.

PLYMOUTH (by inning) 0 0 0 0 0 1 0; one run, one hit and no errors

Crawford, staying busy to start the season, will travel to South Central on Tue. March 28 and will open the Northern-10 Athletic Conference season, at home, on Wed. March 29 against the Carey Lady Blue Devils.
