NEW WASHINGTON — On Monday, the Galion Tigers baseball traveled to New Washington to begin their 2017 campaign against the Buckeye Central Bucks.

The visiting Tigers would have no problems with the Bucks, earning the shortened game victory, 10-0.

Garrett Kuns and Ryan Talbott were integral parts of the dominant victory for the Galion squad.

Kuns picked up the victory, pitching three innings of flawless baseball while striking out six Buckeye Central batters. At the plate, Kuns went three for four with two singles and a double, a runner batted in and scoring a run himself. Talbott finished off the Bucks, going two innings and allowing the only hit given up from the Galion pitching staff while striking out three. Talbott was also three for four at the dish with two singles, a double, an RBI, scoring two runs and stealing a base.

Mac Spears finished the game one for two at the plate with a double, two RBI and a run scored. Ryan Utz was one for two with a run, Will Donahue went one for two for Galion with a run and an RBI. Cameron Payne capped the offensive onslaught for Galion, recording one hit in three plate appearances while scoring a run.

The rest of the week will keep the Galion squad busy. On Wednesday, March 29, they will kick-off Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference Red Division play on the road against the Buckeye Valley Barons. The Tigers will then travel to Caledonia to meet up with another conference foe, the River Valley Vikings, on Friday, March 31. Galion will begin the month of April on the road in Willard, as they meet up on Saturday, April 1 with the Crimson Flashes for a doubleheader.
