GALION — Area basketball teams have learned their seedings and opponents for the upcoming boys basketball tournament

But first, with just a few games remaining in the regular season, two area teams — Colonel Crawford and Northmor — are still alive for at least a share of their conference championships. Once the season wraps on Friday Feb. 24, the boys basketball programs of the area will have to face very different paths to keep postseason play alive.

GALION

The Tigers’ boys squad will square off with the Clear Fork Colts on Wednesday Mar. 1 to begin their Division III tournament march. Galion and Clear Fork will play at Shelby High School with action set to tipoff at 7 p.m.

The winner of this matchup will progress on in the bracket to face the No. 1 seeded New London Wildcats. The second-round game is Friday Feb. 3 at 6:15 p.m., also at Shelby.

NORTHMOR

Northmor will begin its postseason run at home on Wednesday. Mar. 1 at 7 p.m. The Freddies from Fredericktown will be the first up for the home, No. 4-seeded Knights. With both teams being in the Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference Blue Division, these teams are familiar with one another.

Northmor defeated Fredericktown on the road Jan. 7 by a final score of 63-53. On Feb. 10, the Knights hosted the Freddies and won 51-43.

The winner of this contest will advance to the second round to face the winner of Bishop Ready and Liberty Union. If Northmor is the winner, the second round contest would be at their home gym on Saturday Feb. 4 at 7 pm.

COLONEL CRAWFORD

The Eagles are the only area boys team to receive a first-round bye. Colonel Crawford earned the No. 2 seed in the Willard District tournament.

Head Coach David Sheldon and his squad awaits the winner of the Lucas and St.Mary Central Catholic game on Tuesday Feb. 28. The Eagles will tip-off against that victor on Friday, Mar. 3 at Sandusky High School at 6:15 p.m.

CRESTLINE

Crestline’s postseason begins Wednesday, Mar. 1 at Lexington High School. The No. 11 Bulldogs face the No. 4-seeded South Central Trojans at 6:15 p.m.

The winner of that game will advance to a second-round matchup with the winner of the Wynford and Mansfield Christian game. Second-round action will Friday, Feb. 3 at Lexington High Schoo,l with tip-off at 8 p.m.

In a possible second-round scenario, Crestline would face a Wynford team that they lost to on Feb. 7 or a Mansfield Christian team they defeated Jan. 7 and that they meet again Feb. 18.
