GALION — The Galion Lady Tigers played host to the Marion Harding Prexies in their regular season and Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference Red Division finale on Saturday. Despite having a lead and controlling most of the game, Galion dropped the contest to Harding, 42-37.

The Lady Tigers finish the regular season 4-18 overall and winless in the MOAC Red at 0-12. Harding improved their record to 3-18 on the season and 2-11 within the conference.

The first half of play was all Tigers. Galion jumped out to a big lead early and headed into the second quarter up 17-6 over the Prexies. However, the Lady Tigers would not retain the same offensive fire power and scored just seven points in the second. Heading into halftime, Galion remained out in front, 24-16. Harding would pick things up in the second half of play. In the third, the Prexies outscored the home team, 12-5 to narrow the lead to just a single point heading into the fourth. Galion scored just eight points in the final period and couldn’t slow down the Harding offense as they came back to defeat the Tigers on senior night by five.

Dani Schieber led the way for Galion with 15 points. Jaime Ehrman would add 10 points to go along with four rebounds and four assists. Gabby Kaple finished the contest with six points, three rebounds, two assists and three steals for the Lady Tigers. Natalie Rodriguez scored four points for Galion and grabbed seven rebounds and two steals on defense. Julie Clouse had two points on the game. Lauren Huggins didn’t score for Galion but did have three rebounds, an assist and two steals. Sophie Carson had a rebound and Shae Ness dished out an assist.

Galion would shoot 12/34 (35%) overall on the evening, including 6/13 (46%) from three-point land. The Lady Tigers would struggle at the charity stripe, converting just 7/15 (47%) of their free-throw attempts. As a team, Galion grabbed 20 rebounds, had eight assists, seven steals and zero blocked shots while committing 17 turnovers for the contest.

With the regular season behind them, the Lady Tigers now focus on their sectional tournament opponent, the Margaretta Lady Polar Bears. The two squads will face-off on Wednesday Feb. 22 at Willard High School, with action set to start at 6:15 pm.
