Lady Knights survive Highland rally

SPARTA — Northmor held off Highland 60-51 Thursday in Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference Blue Division girls action.

With the victory, Northmor bumps its record to 11-9m and 9-4 in the MOAC. Highland drops to 8-12 and 7-6.

The Golden Knights were in control for most of the matchup with Highland. After one quarter of play, Northmor led 13-10. In the second quarter, the Knights picked up the scoring with 20 points to Highland’s 11 to take a commanding 33-21 lead into the half. After the break, Northmor continued to dominate. In the third quarter, the Lady Golden Knights stretched their lead to 49-27. This is when the Scots decided to turn up the intensity. In the final eight minutes of play, the Knights were outscored 24-11.

Maddie Swihart paced Northmor with 2o points. Karalee Patterson scored 15 points. Brooke Bennett and Lindsey Wiseman both contributed eight points apiece.

For Highland, Madison Cecil and Kenzie Fuller had 13 points apiece and Raven Tilford chipped in 10.

Northmor is at home Saturday, Feb. 11, against Mount Gilead in the regular season finale.
