Tigers drop close battle with Plymouth

PLYMOUTH — In non-conference action Tuesday, Galion lost to Plymouth 71-64.

Galion put up 16 points in the first eight, but Plymouth scored 20. At the end of the first half, the Tigers trailed 35-29. With the loss, Galion drops to 3-16.

Isaiah Alsip, Chase Cooke and Jack McElligott all finished in double figures for the Tigers. Alsip led the scoring attack with 18 points, while also grabbing three rebounds, dishing four assists and recording four steals. Cooke finished the contest with 13 points, seven rebounds, two assists, a steal and a block. McElligott had 10 points, a rebound and two assists in Galion’s efforts.

Colten Skaggs recorded nine points, had five rebounds, an assist, a steal and a block for the Tigers. Zhamir Anderson finished with eight points, snagged two boards, had an assist and two steals. Tristan Baldy chipped in five points, four rebounds and a steal while Gage Lackey hit a free-throw and had one rebound. As a team, the Tigers committed 16 turnovers.

Austin Nester was the top-point man for the Big Red with 25 points. Jacob Adams scored 23 points and Mitchell Chaffins 12.

The Tigers will finish up their regular season with a three-game homestand. On Friday Feb. 10, they will welcome MOAC Red foe Pleasant to Galion. Harding comes to town Feb. 18 and on Feb. 24, Crestline is in Galion.
