Colonel Crawford’s winning streak continues

MORRAL — The Colonel Crawford Eagles boys basketball team has been on a hot streak.

It continued Tuesday with a 51-41 win over Ridgedale in Northern-10 Athletic Conference play.

Colonel Crawford has now won six games in a row and seven of their last eight to improve to 14-4 on the season and 12-2 in the N-10, which is good for second place behind the undefeated Upper Sandusky Ridgedale falls to 3-16 overall and remains winless in the conference at 0-13.

In a game where Crawford outsized the Rockets, the Eagles picked up only 27 total rebounds as a team to go with 12 assists, eight steals and four blocks. Colonel Crawford had just nine turnovers.

The Eagles would get out to a decent lead against the Rockets on Tuesday, scoring 17 points in the first while holding Ridgedale to just seven. The Rockets picked things up a bit in the second, actually outscoring the Eagles by a tally of 16-15 but still trailed at the intermission, 32-23. In the third quarter of play, just 11 total points were scored combined by the two conference rivals. Heading into the fourth, Crawford lead Ridgedale 39-27 and would put up 12 more points to finish off the Rockets.

Jordan Fenner was the leading scorer for the versatile Eagles’ offense with 14 points, to go along with two assists and two steals. Heath Starkey was the only other Crawford player in double figures, scoring 10 points while grabbing seven boards, dishing three assists, swatting three blocks and recording a steal. Cameron McCreary also had a fairly loaded stat sheet, scoring seven points, pulling down three rebounds, recording three assists and two steals. Harley Shaum also finished the game with seven points for the Eagles. Hayden Bute had six points, Gavin Feichtner had four and Brody Martin scored three for Crawford in the win.

Nick Hunley (15), Preston Burton (10) and Alex Eldred (10) were the double-digit scorers on the night for Ridgedale.

Colonel Crawford will play at New Riegel on Saturday Feb. 11.
