BUCYRUS — The Crestline Bulldogs traveled to Wynford High School on Tuesday night to clash with the Royals in non-conference action. Crestline took a lead into the fourth but Wynford came storming back to steal the victory, 62-49.

The Bulldogs appeared to be in control of the game as they carried a 19-11 lead into the second quarter of play. Wynford had other ideas though as they added 18 points in the second to Crestline’s 10 to knot the score at 29 apiece at the half. Action continued in the third much the same as it did in the first half. In what was still a close game saw the Bulldogs taking the slim two-point advantage into the final quarter, 41-39. Unfortunately, that is where things came together for the Royals and fell apart for the ‘Dogs. In the fourth quarter, Wynford surged for 23 points and Crestline mustered just eight to squander the lead and finish with a 13-point defeat. In total, the game went through five lead changes and seven ties.
A plus side on the night for Crestline was the duo of Ty Clark and Davon Triplett. Both Clark and Triplett recorded double-doubles for the contest. Clark led all Bulldogs in scoring with 21 points to accompany 16 rebounds and an assist. Triplett added 16 points and 11 rebounds as well as two assists and two blocks.
Zach Gregory finished with four points in the loss and Chris Gantzler added three. Kaden Ronk and Max Anatra both had two points for Crestline and Tyler Sipes rounded out the scoring with a point.
Crestline’s stat line read like this: 40 total rebounds, nine assists, six steals and four blocks while committing 22 turnovers.
Wynford had three players hit double digit point totals against the Bulldogs. Zach Hoffman led the way with 19 points. Jack Reed and Jordan Creel chimed in with 17 and 16 points, respectively.
The Bulldogs will travel to Loudonville on Saturday Feb. 11 to meet up with the Redbirds in MBC play.
