Lady Tigers fall 51-25 to Mohawk

GALION — On Monday, Mohawk beat Galion 51-25 in girls high school basketball action. The loss drops Galion to 4-17 on the year. Mohawk is 10-10.

Galion took a quick 4-0 lead vs. Mohawk, but the Warriors soon found their shooting touch and grabbed a 12-9 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Mohawk lead was 23-14 at the half and 40-22 at the end of three quarters.

Gabby Kaple was Galion’s top scorer for the night with 15 points on 6/18 shooting. Kaple was 3/3 from the free-throw line and grabbed seven boards. Dani Schieber contributed five points an. Julie Clouse and Jaime Ehrman both scored two points and Natalie Rodriguez one point, but grabbed 10 rebounds.

The Lady Tigers had a rough night shooting making just 1/15 three-point attempts and converting 8/33 from the interior. Galion did well from the free-throw stripe however, finishing 6/9 as a team. In total, Galion grabbed 29 rebounds, recorded three steals, had four assists, but committed 18 total turnovers.

Chelsey Trusty continued to show why she is one of the top scorers in the N-10 Conference. Trusty finished the night with 20 points for Mohawk and was the only Lady Warriors player in double figures.

Galion will play their final game of the regular season on Saturday Feb. 11. The Lady Tigers will play host to the Harding Prexies in a MOAC Red matchup.
