Lady Tigers defeated by Lady Spartans

MARION — The Galion Lady Tigers were in Marion on Saturday to meet up with the Pleasant Lady Spartans for a Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference Red Division game. Pleasant would easily defeat Galion by a score of 75-33.

With the win, the Lady Spartans improved to 5-2 overall on the year and 3-1 in the league. Galion would fall to 1-6 this season and 0-4 in the MOAC Red.

The Tigers found themselves down big after just one quarter of play, 24-2. Galion would bounce back nicely with a 14 point second quarter but ended the first half trailing by a score of 38-16. The Lady Tigers were outscored in the third and fourth quarters, 37-17 en route to the defeat.

Lauren Huggins and Julie Clouse both scored nine for the Tigers and Clouse added three of the 19 Galion rebounds for the game. Dani Schieber added six points and five rebounds. Gabby Kaple chipped in five points. Natalie Rodriguez and Shae Ness finished up the scoring. Rodriguez scored three points and had six rebounds and Ness tallied a single foul shot.

As a team, Galion was 5/19 with their interior shots and 6/15 from outside. The Tigers shot just eight free throws and converted on five. The Lady Tigers committed 31 turnovers for the contest.

On Wednesday Dec.21, Galion will play their makeup home game against the Jonathon Alder Lady Pioneers. Two days later, they will play host to the Northmor Lady Golden Knights.
