MANSFIELD — The Galion Tigers swim teams were on the road on a snowy Tuesday night to the Friendly House pool in Mansfield to compete in a dual swim meet with the teams from Lexington. Galion’s boys squad continued to breeze through their season with a 106-73 victory over the Minutemen while the girls were defeated by a final tally of 139-36.

The Tigers’ boys team was victorious in all events on Tuesday except the 100 yard backstroke and the 400 yard freestyle relay, which is usually a lock for Galion.

Galion was victorious in the 200 yard freestyle relay to start the night. Finishing in a time of 1:48.15 was the foursome of Caleb Strack, Sam Rigdon, Clay Karnes and Eli Skaggs. Rigdon would pick up individual victories in the 50 yard freestyle (24.10) and 100 yard freestyle (52.98). Karnes picked up two victories as well, winning the 200 yard freestyle in a time of 1:59.64 and the 500 yard freestyle in 5:19.18. Skaggs would win the 200 yard individual medley in a time of 2:05.24 and the 100 yard butterfly, finishing in 56.38. Braxton Tate picked up the other individual win for Galion, taking the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:15.37. The other relay team of Rigdon, Luke Eisnaugle, Landon Rose and Skaggs would be victorious in the 200 yard freestyle relay, finishing with a time of 1:36.72.

For the girls team, Sari Conner would pick up the only victory on the night, winning the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 27.44. Although many girls would swim their best times on the season, many of them grabbing second place finishes, the Lady Lex swim team was strong all the way around.

Galion’s swimmers will be busy this weekend. On Saturday, head coach Ted Temple will be sending 17 total swimmers to North Robinson for the Colonel Crawford Relays and 12 swimmers to the McCorkle Natatorium at the Ohio State University to compete in the annual Ned Reeb Memorial Invitational. The Colonel Crawford Relays are set to start at 10:10am and the Invitational is slated for a start time of 8:30am.
