Galion wrestlers compete at Big Walnut Classic

SUNBURY — Injuries and students taking the ACT would only allow head coach Brent Tyrrell to take five wrestlers to the Big Walnut Classic on Saturday Dec.11. Of those five wrestlers, two would place fifth or better.

Brenden Ganshorn, who wrestles in the 106 pound weight class would finish the day at 3-1 for a fifth place finish.

“He (Ganshorn) lost a very close first match. It was very winable, if he wins that match he is most likely in the finals for first,” said Tyrrell of the young man’s performance.

In the 195 pound weight class, Noah Grochowalski went 2-2 and took fourth place for the Tigers.

“He wrestled a couple of nice matches and was overmatched the other two,” states the coach.

At 132 pounds, Tyler Goodrich went 1-3 to place eighth overall.

The Tigers wrestling squad will take a short road trip to Northmor High School for a quad-meet with River Valley, Bucyrus and the always difficult, Golden Knights on Wednesday Dec.14.
