NORTH ROBINSON — Colonel Crawford post Heath Starkey signed a letter of intent Thursday to attend Ashland University next fall. Starkey will be suiting up this season fully healthy for head coach David Sheldon and the Eagles basketball squad.
“I chose Ashland because it was a good basketball program and I really liked the coaches,” Starkey said. The 6-foot, 10-inch senior also looked in to attending other Division III programs around Ohio including Muskingum, Malone, Otterbein and his Coach Sheldon’s alma mater, Bluffton. “At Ashland, I will have the opportunity to redshirt my freshman year which would help me to get stronger and more prepared for playing at the next level.”
Stuckey has had four knee surgeries, but says he is finally 100 percent healthy.
He plans on majoring in sports management and minoring in business administration
When asked about this upcoming basketball season, Starkey seemed very optimistic.
“I want to continue to get stronger and keep my emotions in check,” he said. “We have a very good team with four freshman that are good enough to play on the varsity squad this year.
