Colonel Crawford’s Sheldon named VP of coaching association

NORTH ROBINSON — The Ohio High School Basketball Coaches Association (OHSBCA) named David Sheldon, head coach of the boys varsity basketball team and athletic director at Colonel Crawford, vice president of the group. He will server for three years.

Sheldon is entering his 11th season as the Eagles’ head basketball coach. Sheldon has the most career varsity boys basketball wins at Crawford, has won four league championships, six sectional championships and three district championships in his tenure.

After graduated from Wynford, Sheldon attended Bluffton University, where he was a four-year started for the Beavers’ basketball program and is now part of their Athletic Hall of Fame. After graduating from Bluffton, as he worked in business operations for the National Basketball Association from 1998 until 2002, with the Charlotte Hornets, Orlando Magic and Cleveland Cavaliers.

In 2002, he began teaching at Bucyrus High School, where he coached freshmen and junior varsity basketball and was athletic director. In 2006, he came to the Colonel Crawford school district where he lives with his wife Amy and two children, Caroline and Paige.

Scott Bardall of Sugarceek Garaway High School is the group’s new president.

Other district directors are District I, John Cullen from South Range; District III, Brett Larrick from Elyria Senior; District V, Joe Dunlevy from Indian Creek; District VII, Dave Boyce from Perrysburg; District VIII, Mike Lee from Minster; District IX Kris Spriggs from Kenton Ridge; District XI, John Feasel from Olentangy; District XIII, Ryan Davis from Chesapeake; District XV Adam Priefer from Centerville; District XVI, Brian McMonigle from New Richmond. All Directors will serve a three year term.

District directors named for girls basketball are: Districts I & IV, Mike Miller from Smithville; Districts VIII & IX, Greg Rickard from Convoy Crestview; Districts X & XI, Dave Butcher from Pickerington North; Districts XIII & XIV, Doug Graham from Ironton. Directors serve for three years.
