Locals enjoy success at OH-WAY wrestling tournament

GALION — Last Sunday, Oct.23 OH-WAY Wrestling held their annual wrestling tournament at Northmor High School. The tournament drew kids from Ohio, Indiana, Pennsylvania and West Virginia, ranging in age from five years old to 19 years old. Wrestlers were split into seven divisions. Five and six year olds were DI, seven and eight year olds were DII, nine and 10 year olds were DIII, 11 and 12 year olds were DIV, 13 and 14 year olds were DV and 15 through 19 year olds were either DVI or DVII.

The youngsters from Northmor faired quite well on the day, taking two first place finishes, three second place finishes, three fourth place finishes and a sixth place finish.

First place finishers were: Aydan Reyes; DIV 65/70/75 lbs. and Cowin Becker; DIII 65 lbs. Finishing in second place were: Niko Christo; DV 95/100/105 lbs., Trenton Ramos DIV 100 lbs. and Gavin Whited DIV heavyweight. Grabbing fourth place were: Brady Carr DIII 55/60 lbs., Ethan Littleton DII 65 lbs. and Justin Kitts DV 135/145 lbs. Luke Remy was the sixth place finisher in DII 65 lbs.

Sam Wegesin was the only Galion wrestler to place, finishing in first place, DV 126 lbs.
