Fredericktown tops Northmor, 22-14

GALION — Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference Blue Division foes were in action on Friday night when the Fredericktown Freddies met up with the Northmor Golden Knights. The Freddies won, outlasting the Knights, 22-14.

Northmor gained 224 yards on 57 offensive plays against Fredericktown. The majority of those yards were picked up via the ground game. The Knights rushed the ball 36 times for 156 yards and one of their two touchdowns. Through the air, Northmor was just 9/21 for 68 yards and one touchdown.

The Freddies gained 388 yards on their 63 plays from scrimmage on the night. The air attack for the Freddies saw just 22 yards on 3/9 passing. However, Fredericktown gained 366 yards on the ground on 54 attempts.

Both teams went in to halftime knotted up at 8-8. The Freddies were able to put up a score in the third to give them a 14-8 lead and held off the Knights’ comeback attempted by outscoring them in the fourth, 8-6.

Next Friday will be a battle of the winless as Northmor (0-9, 0-6) will play host to the Elgin Comets.

Elgin is now 0-9 overall and 0-6 in the MOAC after being thumped by the East Knox Bulldogs, 83-34. Fredericktown (4-5, 3-3) will be at home against inner-conference opponent, the Cardington Pirates. The Pirates are now 6-3 overall and 4-2 in league play after losing to MOAC Blue leading Highland, 46-20.
