Tiger volleyball team beats Harding

MARION — The Galion Tigers volleyball team was in Marion Thursday night to take on the Harding Prexies in MOAC Red Division play. Galion ousted their inner-conference opponents in straight sets; 25-14, 25-16, 25-18 to move to 4-3 overall and 3-2 in league play.

Callie Wildenthaler was perfect from the service line, going 20/20 while recording 15 points on one ace. Marissa Gwinner was 11/11 with seven points and three aces. Morgan Gregory scored nine points. Overall, the Tigers scored 43 points off of the serve with eight aces while going 67/70.

Gwinner was also a main contributor on the attack with 17/22 hitting and 12 total kills. Gabby Abouhassan added 13/14 hitting and nine kills. Dusty Thomas, Chloe McCleese and Kasidee Sinclair had seven kills each. Galion recorded 43 total kills against Harding. Most of the attack was set up by Gregory as she had 39 of the team’s 40 assists.

On defense, the Tigers had 52 total digs. McCleese had 15 and Wildenthaler 13. Gwinner was the leading blocker, with four.
