Galion volleyball spikes Buckeye Valley

GALION — The Buckeye Valley Barons came to Galion on Tuesday to matchup against the Galion Tigers. The Barons headed back to Delaware after being handed a Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference defeat from the Tigers in three sets: 25-15, 25-12 and 30-28.

The usual contributors were in full force for Galion.

The Tigers were 60/64 when it came to serving with a total of eight aces as a team. Marissa Gwinner was a perfect 15/15 from the service line, scoring 12 points and three aces. Kasidee Sinclair added 11/11 serving with nine points and one ace. Callie Wildenthaler was 12/13 serving for the Tigers, scoring 10 points and recording two aces.

Gwinner and Sinclair will also busy on the attack side of the Tigers offense. Gwinner was 16/21 hitting with 14 kills and Sinclair provided 21/22 hitting with 10 kills. Gabby Abouhassan lead the way in hitting for the team, going 18/22 hitting with 15 kills. Morgan Gregory was the main ball handler again for the Tigers, going 68/73 and providing 37 of the team’s 40 assists.

Defense was also strong for Galion on the evening. The Tigers were 39/42 receiving, had eight total blocks and ended the evening with 59 digs.

Galion is now back to .500 on the season at 3-3 overall and 2-2 in the MOAC Red Division. On Thursday, the Tigers will be in another league match when they travel to Marion to take on the Marion Harding Prexies.
