Galion tennis continues dominance

GALION — The Galion Tigers tennis team welcomed the Marion Pleasant Spartans to Heise Park on Tuesday to compete in Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference action.

Galion was victorious by a final score of 4-1 over Pleasant.

Three of the four Tigers victories came from singles competitors. Kayley Gimbel was in action again at first singles, winning easily 6-0, 6-0. Gimbel is now a perfect 8-0 on the season. At second singles Katherine Talbott also won in straight sets 6-0, 6-0 to improve to 7-2 on the year. Jalyn Oswald was victorious at third singles as well with a 6-0, 6-0 victory. Oswald is now 8-2 this season.

Second Doubles team of Katie Baughn and Ellie Chandler pulled out a victory to the tune of 6-3, 6-4 against their Spartans opponent. The lone defeat on the evening came at the rackets of the first doubles team of Kiersten Gifford and Danielle Schneider. The duo fell in three sets 6-1, 2-6 and 3-6.

Galion is now 6-2 overall and 4-1 in the MOAC. The Tigers will be at Upper Sandusky Wednesday evening and in Delaware for a league matchup with Buckeye Valley on Thursday.
