BUCYRUS — The Crawford County Chargers split a pair of state tournament games this Saturday, Aug. 27th.

They traveled to Findlay to participate in the West Section at Marathon Diamonds. They opened play by taking on the Huron County Bears and proceeded to beat them, 15-1. Both teams played their hardest, but the Chargers just had too much offense for Huron County.

Later in the day, the Chargers took on the Erie County Bucks. Erie jumped out to an 11-2 lead, but the Chargers continued to fight back. However, they came up short by a final score of 11-7. The Chargershad some fielding errors in the loss and were not hitting as well as they were in the game against Huron County.

As a result of the loss, the Chargers finished as runner-up in the West Section.

The Chargers still have the Clearwater Athletic League Tournament to complete.

The members of the Chargerssoftball team are: Deb Dunbar, Jeremia Gale, Monroe Harris, Jessica Ireland, Tim Jarvis, Aaron Maxfield, Kim Meyer, Jamie Noe, Christain Olmstead, Bethany Shirkey, Matt Spencer, Jackie Stuckmen, Brandon Taylor, Chad TenEyck, Ashley Tyree, Brandi Tyree, Kyle Tyree, and Tammy Tyree.

Coach Keith Bradley, assistant Coaches Ron Shirkey and Jim Plasencia, and the Chargers would like to thank all of their parents, staff, and fans for the great support they have received through the season.
