Shuck RBI leads ChiSox past O’s

CHICAGO — J.B. Shuck’s RBI double in the eighth inning lifted the Chicago White Sox to a 3-2 win over the Baltimore Orioles last Saturday in Chicago.

Shuck, a Galion High School alumnus, entered the game as a pinch hitter with one out and the scored tied 2-2 in the eighth. He replaced Geovany Soto in the lineup.

Baltimore trailed 2-0 entering the eighth, but plated a pair of runs in the top half of the inning to tie the game.

Gordon Beckham walked to lead off the inning and Alexei Ramirez was thrown out at first base on a sacrifice bunt attempt. Shuck then followed with his run-scoring double to right field off of Orioles reliever Darren O’Day.

White Sox reliever David Robertson retired Baltimore in order in the top of the ninth to end the game.

Shuck has appeared in 43 games this season for the White Sox and is batting .284 with three doubles, six RBI, five runs scored and four stolen bases. His on base percentage is .349. His slugging percentage is .324 and his on base plus slugging percentage is .674.

After graduating from Galion, Shuck played college baseball at Ohio State University. He was selected by the Houston Astros in the sixth round of the 2008 Major League Baseball Draft.
