The Tigers dropped an 11-0 decision to Jonathan Alder in five innings.

One would think by that score that the Galion Lady Tigers didn’t show up to play, but that is far from the truth.

“We saw a good team today that is number two in the state,” Galion head coach Doug Hunt said.

Jonathan Alder came out swinging as they put up 10 runs in the first three innings. Four runs after the first inning with an RBI double by Sasha Hamlin, an RBI single by Mady Watson, and a two-run triple by Kayla Fredendall.

Three runs followed in the second inning for Jonathan Alder on a three-run single by Mady Watson, scoring Sophia Thomas, Tori Walker and Maddie Johnston

The third inning saw Jonathan Alder put up another three runs with Tori Walker, Maddie Johnston, and Katelyn Perkins all scoring.

Galion could not answer Jonathan Alder’s bats.

“We hit the ball to where their player was playing on the field and Jonathan Alder hit the holes when they batted,” Hunt said.

Jonathan Alder tacked on their last run of the game in the fourth inning with Kayla Fredenall crossing the plate to make the score 11-0.

Jonathan Alder’s pitcher, Katelyn Perkins, pitched her way to a win. Perkins pitched five shutout innings with eight strikeouts, one walk and gave up only one hit, which was a triple to Galion’s Emily Sedmak in the fifth inning.

Galion’s Emily Sedmak allowed nine runs in five innings, walking one and striking out three batters.

“I was excited that our seniors got to play that don’t usually get to play,” Hunt said. “It was great to see them on the field.”

Galion’s record drops 0-9 in the Mid Ohio Athletic Conference and 3-11 overall.
