The Galion fast-pitch softball team won a doubleheader against Willard on Saturday.
Emily Sedmak struck out 11 batters to lift the Galion Tigers to a 7-1 win over Willard in the first game of a double header at Willard .
The Tigers beat Willard thanks to 10 hits, including two extra base hits. The Tigers scored three runs in the fifth on an RBI double by Sedmak and a two-run error. Gabby Kaple led the Tigers’s offensive threat, as she got on base three times stealing 6 bases in the game. She singled in the fifth and sixth innings.
The game was never in doubt after the second, as the Tigers scored three runs on a two-run double by Dusty Thomas and an error.
The Tigers put up one more run in the top of the sixth when Kaple stole home.
Dusty Thomas and Gabby Kaple each went 2-3, helping the Tigers to a 6-2 victory over Willard in the second game of a double header at Willard. Dusty singled in the first and third innings, Gabby singled in the third and fourth innings.
The Tigers never trailed after scoring six runs in the third on five singles. Kaple pitched 4 shutout innings, striking out 7 and walking 3.
Two runs in the bottom of the fifth helped Willard close its deficit to 6-2. A two-run double by Adams set off Willard rally. Emily Sedmak got the last out, as Willard ‘s Chaffins singled.
Galion will travel to play Marion Harding in Mid Ohio Athletic Conference Action on Wednesday.
Baseball
The Galion baseball team won a doubleheader against Willard on Saturday.
The Tigers was up to bat for 22 times to score four runs with seven hits, three runs batted in, a walk and a strikeout. Willard was up to bat for 28 times to score two runs with eight hits, two RBIs and six strikeouts.
Mac Spears was the winning pitcher. He also added two runs with a single. Mitchell Dyer had two RBIs with a sacrifice fly. Garret Kuns finished with two singles and an RBI.
Galion defeated Willard in the second game of the doubleheader 13-3.
Galion will travel to play Marion Harding in Mid Ohio Athletic Conference Action on Wednesday.
