Track and Field: Galion victorious in Elks 156 invite

The Galion boys and girls track and field teams placed first out of 16 participating schools in the Bucyrus Elks #156 Track Invitational on Saturday.

For the boys, the Tigers finished with 102 points, followed by Lexington (72.5), Colonel Crawford (62), River Valley (52), Marion Harding (48), Crestview (41), Wynford (40) and Pleasant (80). Bucyrus came in 14th with 12 points.

Grabbing first individually for Galion were Colin McCullough (110 meter hurdles, 300 hurdles), Colton Moore (high jump), and Houston Blair (long jump). The Tigers won two out of three relay events within five seconds of its opponents: the 4×200 in 1:36.70 and 4×100 in 45.96.

For Colonel Crawford, Chad Johnson and Owen Adams notched the top spot in the 1600 run and 300 hurdles, respectively.

Wynford junior Seth Hoffman led the Royals after placing first in the discuss throw in 145-05. For Bucyrus, Harley Robinson placed fourth in the long jump in 20-01.

In the girls events, the Lady Tigers finished with 90 points, followed by Ontario (80), Lexington (73), Colonel Crawford (64), Upper Sandusky (41), Western Reserve (36), Pleasant (28.5) and Marion Harding (28). Wynford finished 10th with 23 points, while Bucyrus tallied 20 points for 13th place.

Grabbing first individually for Galion were Taylor Valentine (100 hurdles), Sydney Hunt (100 dash, long jump) and Marisa Gwinner (high jump). Galion won the 4×100 relay in 53.73.

Callie Ruffener notched the top spot for the Lady Eagles in the pole vault in 9-06. Hayley McCoy led the Lady Royals in the 400 dash in 1:06.20. Gabriella Seibert took second place in the high jump in 5-00.
