Get ready for cruise-in season

Even with the past couple of cooler days, it’s time to open the garage, start the engine, check some tires – and even do a little polishing. April marks the beginning of a new cruise season for those who love their cars, trucks and motorcycles. Michael’s Pizza Foldover’s & More in Bucyrus have scheduled April 9th as the area’s first area bike night and April 16th the first car and truck cruise-in, both of these cruises are free and run from 5:00 till 9:00. And so the season begins after a long-winter’s nap. May 1st is the first official show of the year, it’ll be held at the Firestone Store, 1282 Park Avenue West in Mansfield from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. and feature race cars, monster trucks, classic cars, motorcycles, go-carts and muscle cars.

For those Belleville area fans, weekly and monthly cruises will all get started in May. Monday nights you can enjoy either Mt. Vernon’s Southside Diner (every third Monday from 4-8 p.m.) or in Mansfield at the Wiener King Restaurant (5-8 p.m.).

The first Wednesday of the month, Kelly’s Dairy Bar & Mini Golf open their grounds from 5-8 p.m. to all cars and trucks. Oldies music, door prizes, mini golf, and cornhole will help keep the night lively.

Thursday will have cruisers returning to Pizza Hut in Ontario for the 5th straight season. This 4-8 p.m.cruise is a Cruisin’ Times Top 10 show in Ohio. Most nights see more than a hundred cars, trucks and motorcycles on the lot! Bike Nights are also held at the Wiener King Restaurant on Thursdays from 5-8 p.m.

Local shows include the Lexington Main Street Barber Shop Show, 43 East Main in Lexington on May 7 (rain date May 8). Features will include 20 awards, 75 dash plaques, door prizes, food and music.

The Berean Baptist Church, 2145 Mid Bellville Road, will be hosting a “Compassion in Action” Show on May 14th from 4-7 p.m. Speciality awards, music, door prizes and food can be enjoyed with this show.

May 21 will find cruisers at Skyline Chili, 1320 N. Lex-Springmill Road from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. for their 11th annual show to benefit “Relay for Life.” Features will include 25 dash plaques, raffles, oldies music and a 50/50 drawing.

Loudonville Lions Club will host a show on June 17 and Aug. 19. Door prizes, dash plaques, music and food will be part of the fun for this 5-8 p.m. show. Loudonville’s 16th Annual Cruisin’ Loudonville Downtown Car Show is marked for July 2 (rain or shine) from 8 a.m.-3 p.m.

Malabar Farms will again be hosting a “Sunday Drive” Car Show at the farm on July 31 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.Awards, 45 dash plaques, music and food will add to the fun on the farm.
