Ohio State Marion to host leadership development series

0

Ohio State Marion’s Alber Enterprise Center is offering a five-module leadership development non-credit course beginning April 7 in 125 Maynard Hall on the Marion Campus. Each module is three hours from 9 a.m. to noon and will be held every other Thursday, with the last session on June 2. Registration deadline is March 30.

The course is based on one of the top business books of the 21st century, The Leadership Challenge, by Jim Kouzes and Barry Posner. From 30 years of continually researching leadership excellence, Kouzes and Posner developed a leadership model that consists of Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership®. Those practices are still relevant today as the authors continue their research around the world and offer fresh insight into the changes in how people work and what people want from their work. The facilitator for the Marion offering is Jim Franks, a certified Co-Active Coach through The Coaches Training Institute.

The course is for anyone in a formal or informal leadership capacity who needs to guide teams, organizations, and communities. Each module will describe and allow participants to rehearse the positive behaviors leaders at all levels in an organization should practice. Besides the five classroom sessions, the registration fee includes three bonus items: 1) a hardcover copy of The Leadership Challenge 5th edition, 2) a personalized Leadership Practices Inventory®, and 3) two 1-hour private coaching sessions to reinforce and adapt the practices to the participant’s specific leadership environment.

Call 740-725-6325 for registration information.
