Galion Intermediate School teacher Bryan Summer was named the first recipient of the Believe, Achieve, Succeed Award during the regular Galion City School District Board of Education meeting on Feb. 18.

The Believe, Achieve, Succeed Award program is designed to recognize teachers and staff members who are going beyond the call of duty to make a positive impact on the lives of students. Staff members are nominated by building administrators and other staff members. The award recipient is selected by Superintendent Jim Grubbs based on the nominations received.

“Mr. Summer was the best person to be the first recipient of this award,” Grubbs said. “He continually works to find new and innovative ways to positively impact the lives of Galion students.”

Along with his normal duties as a MH Teacher, Summer serves as the treasurer for the Galion Elementary School Parent-Teacher Organization. He organizes the district’s recycling efforts with the Crawford County Solid Waste Management District, and is also an integral part of the “Paws on Pawns” Chess Club at the Intermediate School.

“I nominated Bryan because he simply is one of the most essential staff members in our building,” Intermediate School Principal Alex Sharick said. “He is the ‘go to person’ because of the multiple services he provides our staff, students & community.”

As the recipient of the Believe, Achieve, Succeed Award, Summer was publicly recognized by the Board of Education and received a board commendation for his efforts.

“I want to thank Mr. Sharick for nominating me, and Mr. Grubbs for selecting me,” Summer said. “It is an honor to be the first recipient of this award, and I am grateful for the opportunity to serve Galion students, parents, staff and the entire community.”
