Leesville Grange holds February meeting

Leesville Grange No. 2078/Crawford County Pomona Grange No. 36 met at Jefferson Township Fire Department Feb. 2.

After Chaplain Dorothy Eckert offered prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag Master/President Donald Graf presided over the meeting.

The Legislative Chairman, Harold Eckert reported on Rover gas pipeline project is now hiring workers and clearing land in Richland County. The windfarm in northern Crawford County has a change of ownership. Discussed presidential Democrat and Republican candidate results in Iowa caucuses.

The Family Activities Chairperson, Priscilla Laughbaum talked about distribution of Project Linus blankets, comfort toys, Ryan’s cases for smiles pillowcases and coupons for military that were collected at the Ohio State Grange convention from the Granges in the various counties.

The Deaf Activities Chairman stated Kathie Burkman was a first place merit winner with Pomona Deaf report and second place honorary award with her Pomona program. The Ohio State Grange Deaf committee is raising money for the dogs for the deaf by selling tickets for a one-night stay at the Emerald Necklace Inn.

Community Service Chairman reminded people to bring items for Crestline Food Pantry at the next meeting.

Communications were received from Ohio State Grange Master Robert White pertaining to annual words and bonding. We received quarterly report forms from State Secretary Debra Hamilton.

The group discussed the coming 100th anniversary covering menu, guest list, decorations and bringing Leesville Grange memorabilia.

Lecturer’s Program theme for the evening “Let’s All Go to New Orleans for the Mardi Gras Celebration”.

The next regular Leesville Grange No. 2078/Crawford Co. Pomona Grange #36 meeting will be held 7 p.m. March 1 at Jefferson Township Fire Department. Grange traditional sandwiches and jello will be served.
