Galion High School launches Student of the Month program

Galion High School has started a new Student of the Month program for the 2015-2016 school year with the focus on positive character traits.

Each month, students are given the definition of that specific trait. Teachers watch for students that are demonstrating the character trait and are able to nominate a student at the end of the month.

“This program was an idea generated by the building principal, Mr. Willams,” High School Student Council Advisor Molly Fairchild said. “More than 40 students have been nominated through the first three months of the program, and we’re excited by the participation by our High School staff members.”

When Student of the Month nominees are announced, they each receive a small reward. The nominees are then put into a drawing for a bigger reward.

The first three Galion High School Students of the Month include: Lillian Hall, October (respect); Brianna VanDervort, November (integrity); Tristan Gosser, December (responsibility).

“We are working hard to be more proactive in helping our students learn about and display positive behaviors in the building,” High School Principal Ron Williams. “This is one way we can recognize students for doing the right things, and I appreciate the work of Ms. Fairchild and the Student Council in making this program a reality for the student body.”
