Nolan McKibben named Colonel Crawford Lions Club October student of the month

NORTH ROBINSON — Nolan McKibben is the Colonel Crawford Lions Club Student of the Month for October. He is a senior at Colonel Crawford High School and the son of Brad and Krista McKibben. McKibben is a National Merit Scholar semifinalist and a College Board National Rural and Small Town Recognition Program member.

McKibben has earned All-A’s honor roll recognition throughout high school and is on the Dean’s List at North Central State College where he is in the Sci-Med Academy. He is the president of National Honor society, a member of the Academic Challenge Team, Leo Club president, a four-year member of Student Council, and a two-year Young Life student leader.

McKibben’s sports participation includes varsity football team, grades 9 through 12 and serving as team captain; varsity basketball team, grades 10 through 12; varsity baseball team, grades 9 through 11. He has received various awards in all these fields. McKibben is an Ohio High School Athletic Association certified basketball official.

McKibben’s musical talents include being a Bucyrus Talent Piano Student since first grade. He has earned both state and national piano performance awards. At school, he is a four-year member of Vision Show Choir.

Other extracurricular activities for McKibben include being a member of the Dairy Maids and Gents 4-H club, serving as a 4-H camp counselor, and being a member of the Crawford County Junior Fair Board. He is an active member of United Church of Christ in Upper Sandusky where he designed and coordinates the church’s website, is the audio-visual committee chairman, and participates in special music numbers. He also serves as substitute pianist.

Planning to study either biochemistry or microbiology, McKibben plans to earn a bachelor’s degree and then attend medical school. His college choice is undecided.

McKibben and his parents were guests of the Colonel Crawford Lions Club at their October dinner meeting. He was presented with a commemorative certificate and a check for $100.
