Humane Society bingo Oct. 20

The Humane Society Serving Crawford County will host its weekly Wednesday night bingo game on Oct. 20. The games will be played at The Pickwick Place, 1875 N. Sandusky Ave., Bucyrus. Tween Fall Festival at Crestline Library

The Crestline Public Library is hosting a Tween Fall Festival from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 21. Participants (ages 10-12) are asked to wear a costume. Activities include watching a movie, playing games, and having a snack. Registration is required and space is limited to 18. Ghost Walk at Brownella Cottage

A Ghost Walk at Brownella Cottage is slated for 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 22. Visitors will take a tour of the Cottage and learn the history of the home and hear tales of the spirits that still haunt its halls. The tour will conclude with an EVP/Spirit Box session. Pumpkin carving party Oct. 23

Galion Public Library will host a pumpkin carving party from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 23. The party will take place on the lawn at the library, 123 North Market Street. All ages are welcome to participate. Registration is required so staff can know how many people will be in attendance. Immunization appointments Oct. 27

The Galion City Health Department, 113 Harding Way East, has daytime immunization appointment times Wednesday, Oct. 27. Call 419-468-1075 to schedule your appointment and have all insurance information ready. Medicaid and many private insurance cards will be accepted and must be provided by the time of service. Those with multiple insurance carriers must bring all cards. No VFC eligible child will be denied immunizations due to the inability to pay. Patients and guests are asked to bring their own face covering.

Board of Elections meets Oct. 28

The Crawford County Board of Elections will meet on Thursday, Oct. 28 at 1 p.m. to perform Public Test of Tabulating Equipment and conduct regular business. The meeting and test will take place in the board office at 112 East Mansfield Street, Bucyrus.

Paranormal investigation at Brownella Cottage

Visitors are invited for a paranormal investigation of Brownella Cottage on Saturday, Oct. 30 from 8 p.m. until midnight. Investigative equipment will be provided but guests are free to bring their own. Bishop Brown died in the home on Halloween morning 1937 making this night an extra exciting night to investigate the Cottage. Tickets for this event at $25 per person. Taylor Road facility schedule

The Taylor Road composting facility will be open two more weekends in 2021. The final dates for 2021 are Nov. 19-20. The facility is located at 545 Taylor Road in Galion. Hours of operation are 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Yard waste, including limbs, brush, grass clippings and leaves, will be accepted free of charge from City of Galion and Polk Township residents.

Cookbook Club starts at library

The Galion Public Library Cookbook Club will meet monthly at the library. Adult Programs Manager Katie Griffith will host the monthly meetings, which will be held at 6 p.m. in the library’s Community Room. Each month the club will focus on a different type of food and discuss recipes, the cooking process, and the cookbooks. Stop by the library to pick up a cookbook for September’s meeting celebrating National Rice Month. A book display for this program is located upstairs at the library. Games at the library

Galion Public Library has added board and card games to its circulating collection. Games can be checked out for seven days and may be renewed up to three times if no one else has placed a hold on them. They must be returned inside the building, not in the book drop or even to another library in the consortium. They also accumulate overdue fines of $1 per day if returned late. Games can be checked out in the Children’s Room. You may also place holds via the catalog. For information, call Heather Tiffany at the Galion Public Library at 419-468-3203. The library is open from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Join 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program

The Galion Public Library is offering the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program for families. The goal of the free program is for parents to read 1,000 books to their children before they begin kindergarten. For information, stop by the children’s room desk to pick up a reading log.
