Leesville Grange holds October meeting

LEESVILLE — Leesville Grange #2078/Crawford Co. Pomona Grange #36 met at the Jefferson Twp. Fire Dept. on Tuesday, Oct. 5 to conduct planning for the 2021-2022 Grange year. Master/President Donald Graf presided over the meeting. Chaplain Dorothy Eckert offered prayer followed by the pledge of allegiance to the American Flag.

Legislative report was Attorney General Dave Yost working with other State Attorneys General to stop robocalls.

The Family Activities Chairperson reported on Family Activities community service projects: Katelyn Yarning for Warmth, Cases for Smiles, Project Linus blankets, VOSH (collection of eye glasses) and One Voice (outreach mission giving personal products to homeless). Discontinuing Stuff the Jeep (collecting toys for Childrens Hospital) due to COVID-19. Ohio State Grange Family Activities is no longer collecting coupons for the military but local Grange continuing this project.

The Deaf Activities Chairman read an article on what to expect at your hearing test.

Community Services Chairman stated that the Grange needs to keep record on projects that Grangers are involved with. Flying Horse Farms will be another Community Service project for this year, which is a camp for medically frail children to attend at no cost. Pill bottle program for Matthew 25 Ministries has been discontinued and our final count of pill bottles was 1062.

The Ohio State Grange announced the new theme for the 2021-2022 Grange Year will be “Granges With A Positive Vision Create Positive Actions”.

Secretary stated the 2021-2022 Grange officers and chairperson roster and quarterly report had been sent to the Ohio State Grange Office.

County Deputy Dorothy Eckert reported that Kathie Burkman received the following Family Activities contest awards: altered crew neck sweatshirt, 2nd place; small quilted wall hanging, 2nd place; Grange apron, 3rd place; repurposed poly feed bag, 3rd place; pig stuffed toy, 1st place and bear stuffed toy, 5th place. Also reported that Sue Roy was re-elected as Ohio State Grange Master/President for the next two years.

Lecture Program theme was “Ghosts in Ohio.”

The next regular Leesville Grange meeting will be held at the Jefferson Twp. Fire Dept. on Tuesday, Nov. 2 at 7:00 p.m. Lunch will be cake and ice cream in honor of a Grange member’s 70th birthday.
