Park Policy Committee meets Oct. 1

Colonel Crawford Fall Festival Oct. 2

The 38th annual Colonel William Crawford Fall Festival is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 2. The festival will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Colonel Crawford High School, State Route 602, North Robinson. The craft show will feature more than 100 vendors. Visitors can also enjoy a car show and farm toy show. Entertainment will be provided by Colonel Crawford students and other local performers. “Our Gangs” Old Fashioned Kettle Cooked Soup will be available along with many other food items. Humane Society bingo Oct. 6

The Humane Society Serving Crawford County will host its weekly Wednesday night bingo game on Oct. 6. The games will be played at The Pickwick Place, 1875 N. Sandusky Ave., Bucyrus. Library books sale Oct. 7-9

The Friends of the Galion Public Library annual book sale is scheduled for Thursday through Saturday, Oct. 7-9. All books and media will be sold by donation. Voices of the Past set for Oct. 9

The Crestline Historical Society will present “Voices of the Past,” a guided cemetery walk of St. Joseph Cemtery, from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 9. St. Joseph Cemetery is located on East Main Street, east of Crestline. Officials request a donation for admission.

Taylor Road facility schedule

The Taylor Road composting facility will be open two more weekends in 2021. The final dates for 2021 are Oct. 15-16 and Nov. 19-20. The facility is located at 545 Taylor Road in Galion. Hours of operation are 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Yard waste, including limbs, brush, grass clippings and leaves, will be accepted free of charge from City of Galion and Polk Township residents.

Bingo for Books

Bingo for Books begins Monday, Oct. 11 at the Galion Public Library. From 6 to 8 p.m., participants will have the chance to win books from the library. Participation is limited to 20 people. Kiwanis Pancake Day is Oct. 16

Kiwanis Pancake Day is Saturday, Oct. 16. The all-you-can-eat pancakes and sausage meal will be served from 8 to 10:30 a.m. at Galion Intermediate School. Tickets cost $7 per person and can be purchased from any Kiwanis Club member. Children age 8 and youngr eat for free (1 per paid ticket). All proceeds will benefit Community Projects on Connections Weekend. Entertainment begins at 8:30 a.m.

Cookbook Club starts at library

The Galion Public Library Cookbook Club will meet monthly at the library. Adult Programs Manager Katie Griffith will host the monthly meetings, which will be held at 6 p.m. in the library’s Community Room. Each month the club will focus on a different type of food and discuss recipes, the cooking process, and the cookbooks. Stop by the library to pick up a cookbook for September’s meeting celebrating National Rice Month. A book display for this program is located upstairs at the library. Crestline Farmers Market open

The Crestline Farmers Market is open for the 2021 season. The market will be open from 3 to 6 p.m. each Tuesday from May through Oct. 26. Dutchtown Farmers Market open

The Dutchtown Farmers Market in New Washington is open for the 2021 season. The market is located at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 203 East Mansfield Street, New Washington. The market is open from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. each Thursday through Sept. 30. Games at the library

Galion Public Library has added board and card games to its circulating collection. Games can be checked out for seven days and may be renewed up to three times if no one else has placed a hold on them. They must be returned inside the building, not in the book drop or even to another library in the consortium. They also accumulate overdue fines of $1 per day if returned late. Games can be checked out in the Children’s Room. You may also place holds via the catalog. For information, call Heather Tiffany at the Galion Public Library at 419-468-3203. The library is open from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Join 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program

The Galion Public Library is offering the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program for families. The goal of the free program is for parents to read 1,000 books to their children before they begin kindergarten. For information, stop by the children’s room desk to pick up a reading log.
