Auto sales up by 22 percent in October

Auto sales in October spiked from the same month last year with 49 new and used-car sales in Crawford and Morrow County combined.

A total of 271 new and used vehicles were sold last month compared with 222 last year, according to data provided by the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles.

The sales numbers are compiled from titles processed at county title departments of each month.

Local top dealers for new and used vehicles included Matthews Chevrolet Bucyrus with 66 vehicles sold compared with 42 last October (when the dealership was known as Haydocy Chevrolet Cadillac Buick); Mowery Motors of Edison with 16 vehicles compared up by nine from last year; and J&J Auto Parts of Marengo at 14 vehicles compared with 5 in October 2014.

Donley Ford of Galion sold eight vehicles last month compared with 11 from the same month a year ago.

There were 36 new vehicles sold in October compared with 18 last year. Used vehicles increased by 31 from last year to 235.

Chevrolet, Ford and Dodge were the top selling new and used-makes in October.
