Lutheran Memorial Camp Apple Butter Festival well attended

Seasonal temperatures and Fall colors proved an inviting background for 800 visitors at the annual Lutheran Memorial Camp Apple Butter Festival held Oct. 11.

The revenue from these visitors will fund 15 Camperships for youngsters during the 2016 LMC Camping sessions which runs from June through August.

Preparing the apples to be made into apple butter were members of the Pastor’s Retreat at the camp and a local Girl Scout Troop. Camp Volunteer Jenny Young coordinated the silent auction. There were 32 donors who con- tributed 175 items to the auction. Two hundred jars of apple butter were prepared and 170 sold. There is still apple butter to be purchased in half pint and pint sizes. Contact the camp office, 419-864-8030, to make arrangements to purchase it.

The Petting Zoo was provided by the Morrow County 4-H Extension Office. Avalon Nine’s music offered entertainment and the Wolfpak Martial Arts, Mount Gilead gave demonstrations. Hayrides were given by the staff to different parts of the camp. Other activities included face painting, apple games, pumpkin carving and many crafters.

There were 80 volunteers helping with the activities. Pat Surbella, camp office manager and director of the volunteers, speaking on behalf of the camp staff, thanked all those who attended and helped fund Camperships for youngsters.
