Free concealed carry classes offered to Galion, Northmor teachers

A Galion business owner is offering a free concealed carry weapon class for Galion and Northmor educators.

Gina Powell of AA Bail Bonds is offering the monthly classes at her business. Powell usually charges $100 per class, but said she believes in offering classes for free for educators. She added that several educators from Galion have already signed up for her free classes.

“We don’t want to be like what recently happened in Oregon,” Powell said, referring to last week’s shooting which killed nine at a community college there. “People are targeting gun-free zones.”

She is looking for districts to allow concealed carry by educators on school grounds and hopes to make presentations to both school boards on the matter before the end of the year.

No decisions or comment on the matter have been made by Galion or Northmor school officials.

CCW classes are eight-hour classes and participants are required to undergo a background check through the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office before final CCW certification.
