Frustrated by the condition of Portland Way South?

Help is on the way.

The second phase of the Portland Way South resurfacing project is slated to begin mid-October and is expected to continue for four-six weeks.

“The roadway will be closed to all thru traffic from Henry Street going south to the Millcreek Nursing Home entrance,” Galion Mayor Tom O’Leary said.

He said the nursing home will still have access to police and fire support. Nursing home visitors will be able to come in from the north and south entrances.

O”Leary said the residents from Rosewood Avenue to Maple Heights Drive will also be impacted during the project.

“They will have a temporary gravel road put down for residents to access their homes,” O’Leary said.

The entire Portland Way South resurfacing project will be completed around Memorial Day next year.

The Portland Way project is slated to start construction in mid-October to fix the bumps on the roadway.
