Mt. Gilead drive-thru robbed; suspect at large

08/28/2015 – Mt. Gilead police are seeking information regarding the robbery at Pop A Top ‘Cruise Thru’ on S. Main Street in Mt. Gilead Wednesday evening.

In a press release issued Friday morning, Mt. Gilead Police Chief Brian Zerman said police responded to the location at 8:15 p.m. August 26 on a reported robbery. An employee called 911 and said a male subject walked into the store, demanded money and cigarettes and fled on foot. No weapon was seen, however, the suspect threatened to shoot the victim if they called the police. The employee was not physically harmed.

The suspect is describes as a white male, 5’5” to 5’7”, 150 to 170 lbs with dark hair. The man was wearing a purple hoodie and black windbreaker type pants with a white stripe down the leg.

Video surveillance from the area showed the suspect ran into a parking lot just north of the Drive Thru. The suspect entered a white or silver vehicle and drove north on Main Street.

Anyone that may have been traveling on S.Main Street around 8 pm or anyone that may have information is asked to contact the Mt.Gilead Police Department at 419-946-3333.

Deputies from the Morrow County Sheriff’s Office and Cardington Police Department also responded to assist Wednesday evening.

The Mt. Gilead Police Department is working with the Mansfield Police Department and Richland County Sheriff’s Department, as there are similarities with recent robberies in those jurisdictions.
