GALION — Local, small business continues to arrive in Galion, with another arrival announced this week.

Ohio Specialty Services Motor Ranch opened its newest location at 245 Harding Way West, just a few blocks west of the square in uptown Galion.

“This very spot used to belong to Tom Mies and Mies Motors,” said JR Jenney, owner of the Motor Ranch. “Tom was here for over 30 years and developed quite the reputation in Galion. We look to continue where Tom left off and give people a chance to shop here Galion instead of going out of town for a great deal on a used car.”

Jenney, along with general manager Colby Bright and manager Aaron Adams, officially opened for business Tuesday, Oct. 10 and held a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house Thursday.

“It’s been a while since I’ve been in the auto sales business,” said Adams. “I’m happy to be back and am looking forward to being a part of all this in the Galion community.”

With at least 30 cars, trucks, minivans and everything in between on the lot as Tuesday, Jenney says that type of selection is what the community can expect.

“We rolled in about 30 vehicles or so on Sunday evening and are still purchasing more,” he said. “The inventory is going to continue to grow as the sales — which have already begun — continue to happen.”

Jenney also has a motor ranch in Bucyrus at 1825 E. Mansfield St. and has plans to open locations in Marion and Chatfield.

The Motor Ranch is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, with Saturday hours being 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“I have to give Colby (Bright) a lot of credit for bringing this idea to me and for helping make the Galion location a possibility,” Jenney said. “I would also like to thank everyone that has helped out along the way … John Harris, Paul Sorenson and John Wiparina finished the renovations in Galion location; Laura Johnson (owner of Galion’s Cake and Icing), helped with the design work and provided us all with treats throughout the process.”
