Eagles drop N-10 slugfest with Royals

BUCYRUS — On Friday night, the Colonel Crawford Eagles traveled to Bucyrus to meet up with Northern-10 Athletic Conference foe, the Wynford Royals.

Things didn’t go according to plan for the visiting Eagles as they dropped the contest with Wynford; 44-36. With the loss, Colonel Crawford drops to 1-3 overall on the season and 0-3 within the conference.

Crawford and Wynford were tied up at seven apiece after one and the Eagles held on to a 16-14 lead at the half. The second half, however, was all Royals. Colonel Crawford did manage 20 second-half points but were outlasted by the home squad that put together 30 points en route to the win.

Hayden Bute managed 119 yards on 10/15 passing while tossing two touchdowns and one interception. His primary target, Kaleb Landin snagged four catches for 60 yards and a score. Owin Seever also earned a touchdown on five catches for 53 yards. Trevor Shawber rounded out the air attack for the Eagles with one catch for six yards.

Shawber had a big night on the ground for Crawford, racking up 216 yards on 26 carries while marching for three rushing touchdowns. As a team, the Eagles picked up 280 yards on 35 carries. Dylan Knisely carried the ball nine times for 64 yards for the visitors in the loss.

The Eagles will be back in N-10 play next Friday when they play host to the Seneca East Tigers.
