Galion man gets jail time for OVI

BUCYRUS — A Galion man’s felony charge of operating a vehicle under the influence was reduced to a misdemeanor after an error in his record revealed that he had fewer previous charges over the past six years.

Kris D. Laughbaum, 57, 601 Portland Way South, pleaded guilty in Crawford County Common Pleas Court last week to one misdemeanor count and was sentenced to one year in the county jail. His case will be reviewed for early release after he serves six months.

Judge Seal Leuthold also ordered Laughbaum to pay a $2,750 fine and to forfeit his vehicle’s license plates. His driver’s license was suspended for 10 years.

A Bucyrus man is heading to prison after pleading guilty to one count of harassment by an inmate, a fifth-degree felony.

Bruce Christlieb, 40, pleaded guilty to harassment by an inmate, a fifth-degree felony.

Christlieb, who has a previous felony conviction on his record, was sentenced to seven months in prison.
