BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA — Kelly Baker of Galion was initiated at The University of Findlay Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society.

Northmor graduate earns Dean’s award at Colgate

HAMILTON — Colgate University Class of 2017 member Kristine Pfister, a Northmor High School graduate from Galion, has earned the fall Dean’s Award with Distinction, which is awarded to students with a 3.6 or higher term average.

Register now for Galion kindergarten, screening sessions

GALION — Kindergarten registration for the Galion City School District started March 1. Parents enrolling kindergarten children for the 2017-2018 school year should do so throughout the month of March by calling the Primary School office. Any child five-years-old on or before Aug. 1, 2017, is eligible to register.

Children entering school for the first time must be screened for hearing, vision, speech and communication, other health or medical conditions and developmental delays.

The Galion Primary School will be holding combined kindergarten registration and screening days from 9 to 4 p.m. on April 11 and from 1 to 8 p.m. on April 12. Appointments are required for registration and screening. Proof of residence, birth certificate, immunization (shots) records, custody papers, if necessary, and Social Security card should be brought on the day of the screening.

Open enrollment applications available at Galion City Schools

GALION — Open enrollment applications for the 2017-2018 school year for the Galion City School District are being accepted through March 31, 2017.

Any parent interested in applying for open enrollment into the district for their child can do so at http://www.galionschools.org. Once on the website, click on the “Parents” tab at the top of the site and click on “Open Enrollment” link on the page.

Completed forms should be returned to the Galion City School District Administrative Center.

Local student a member of “The Addams Family” at Findlay

FINDLAY — Austin Stevens, of Bucyrus recently participated in the University of Findlay’s musical theatre production of “The Addams Family – A New Musical Comedy,” a story based on the comic strip characters created by Charles Addams. UF students participated as cast members and/or as members of the production crew. Stevens performed the role of an Addams Family ancestor/ensemble.
