Galion bowlers come up short vs. Buckeye Valley

GALION — Victory Lanes was the place to be Monday night as it hosted not one, but two bowling matches. Northmor was taking on Highland in Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference Blue Division competition on lanes 9-16 and Galion was up against Buckeye Valley in MOAC Red Division competition on lanes 1-8.

The Galion girls bowling team by a final tally of 1,942-1,425. The Lady Tigers are now 2-10 on the season and 1-7 in conference competition.

Galion’s collaborative score for the first game on the contest was 646 and the Lady Tigers would go on to roll a 549 in the second game. Their final score in the Baker Series of 230, 109 in game one and 121 in game two, wrapped up the Galion scoring at 1,425.

The high game and series were both rolled by Sara Misura on the night. Misura’s first game total of 170 was the top score for the girls squad and with her 122 in the second game, she landed the high series of a 292.

Other series rolled for Galion were: Brooklyn Potter, 237; Macy Eicher, 235; Stevi Ness, 234; Lexi Hadamuscin rolled a 110 in the first game and Abby Barre bowled an 87 in the second game.

The Lady Barons were incredibly skilled and cheering loud for one another throughout the contest. In the first game on the night, Buckeye Valley rolled a 880 as a team and followed it up with a 727 in the second game. With the two games behind them, Buckeye Valley bowled a Baker Series of 335 to end with their total score of 1,942.

The high game of the matchup for Buckeye Valley was rolled by Mattea Ream with a 197. Madi Shearer would tie with Ream for the high series for the Lady Barons with a 356.

Galions boys team lost, too, 2,263-1,962. Galion is now 5-7 overall and 3-5 in MOAC Red matchups.

Galion opened the contest with a first game score of 816 and followed up in the second game with a 743. Sitting down by 273 pins headed into the Baker Series put the Tigers at a major disadvantage. Game one of the Baker Series would see Galion rolling a 182. Game two would be a stronger game for the Tigers with a 221 but would not be enough for the victory.

Austin Rinehart was once again the top bowler for the Galion Tigers. Austin’s second game of 201 would prevail as the high game for Galion. Coupled with the 201 score was a 190 to give Rinehart the top series with a 391.

Other series bowled for the Tigers were: Dylan Ruth, 335; Aaron Stewart, 303; Jacob Lear, 281; David Riddle bowled a 129 in the first game on the night and Alan Evans rolled a 120 in game number two.

Buckeye Valley rolled their way to a team-score of 949 in the first game and followed the impressive showing up with an 883 in the second. The Barons would bowl just one spare throughout the first Baker Game and finish with a 277 and added an 154 in the second Baker Game for their grand total of 2,263.

Leo Wells had the high game and high series for the Barons, finishing with a 225 game and a 409 series.

Galion will be back at it again on Friday, when they host Mount Gilead.
