Bucyrus school board members honored

BUCYRUS — The Ohio School Boards Association is celebrating School Board Recognition Month in an effort to build awareness and understanding of the vital function an elected board of education plays in our society.

School Board Recognition Month honors the members of Ohio’s 719 city, exempted village, local and joint vocational boards of education and educational service centers governing boards for their commitment to providing quality public education to Ohio’s school children.

The Bucyrus City School District is joining with other districts throughout the state to recognize the important contributions school board members make to their communities.

“Our district is incredibly fortunate to have a tremendous board of education that works closely with parents, education professionals and community members to create the educational vision we want for our students,” said Superintendent Kevin Kimmel. “On behalf of the students, staff, and community, I would like to thank the Bucyrus City School District Board of Education members for their effort and dedication in providing the leadership for our schools.”

The men and women serving the Bucyrus school board and their years of service are: Doug Schiefer – 13 years; Paul Johnson – 10 .5 years; Adam Stone – 5 years; Bradley Murtiff – 4 years’ Traci Wetterau – 3 year.

Board of Education members will be recognized prior to the start of the varsity boys basketball game against Wynford on Jan. 20 at Alex Kish Gymnasium. Bucyrus board members will receive certificates  f commendation from the Ohio School Boards Association during the regular board meeting Jan. 9 .

The Bucyrus City School District would like to publicly thank these board members for their dedicated service to our children and our staff.
