BUCYRUS — The Crawford County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office has received notice that the Ohio Parole Board has scheduled a parole hearing for Shawn M. Case. Case was convicted of three counts of rape in 1997, and sentenced to 10 years to life in prison.

He began his prison term Sept. 29, 1997 and remains incarcerated at the North Central Correctional Institution in Marion, according to the Ohio Department of Corrections.

Prosecutor Matthew Crall will file a response to the parole board on behalf of the State of Ohio.

That hearing is scheduled in January 2017.

“It has been many years since Case committed these acts, with most of them occurring more than 20 years ago,” he said. “As part of filing our response, I want to ensure that the victims and their families have the opportunity to respond as well.

“We have been able to contact some of the victims and their families, but some we do not have updated contact information on”

While not identifying the victims and families for privacy reasons, Crall wants to assist victims in this case by providing their statement to the parole board.

“Please contact me or Jim Scott, our victim advocate, if you wish to provide information to the parole board,” Crall said.

Call the prosecutor’s office at 419-562-9782, or email Jim Scott at [email protected].
