Northmor, Crawford runners state-bound

TIFFIN —Colonel Crawford’s Chad Johnson and three Eagles’ teammates are headed to the state cross country meet Saturday at National Trails Raceway in Hebron. They’ll be joined by Northmor’s girls cross country.

The Eagles’ boys qualifiers — Chad J0hnson, Brade Bauer and Nick Studer — are in Division III race, the first of the day, which starts at 11 a.m. The Division II boys race is at 11:45 a.m. and the Division III race is at 12:30 p.m.

The Northmor girls team, along with Colonel Crawford’s Anna Reffey, are in the Division III girls race, which starts at 1:30 p.m. The Division II girls race is at 2:15 p.m. and the Division I at 3 p.m.

Last week, Johnson, a junior, won the Division III boys race at Hedges Boyer Park in Tiffin, with a time of 15:41.24. The Eagles finished 8th in the team standings. The top seven teams advanced. Bauer finished 11th with a time of 17:01.38 and Studer crossed the finish line in 13th place with a time of 17:07.40. The other Eagles runners at the district meet were Braxton James (148th, 19:15.92), Alex Mutchler (156th, 19:28.37) and Zach Leonhart (159th, 19:35.15).

Led by Jessica and Kristen Duryea, Northmor’s qualified it’s entire girls team for the state meet. Jessica Duryea finished 17th in a time of 20:43.66 and Kristen Duryea crossed the line in 20th place with a time of 20:56.16. Other runners for the Knights at the regional meet in Pickerington — and headed to the state meet — are Maddie Jordan (33rd, 21:43.12), Samantha Peters (38th, 21:59.86), Julianna Ditullio (47th, 22:23.53), Maria Lee (53rd, 22:28.44) and Brooke Bennett (104th, 24:24.18).

The Eagles’ Reffey was 13th in the Division III regional race in Tiffin. Her time was 19:44.18 which means she will also race at 1:30 p.m. at National Trails. Also running for the Eagles in Tiffin were Emily Kemper (56th, 21:15.96), Courtney Britt (72nd, 21:46.89), Katie Hopkins (101st, 22:39.77), Sydney Studer (130th, 23:32.93), Kari Teglovic (134th, 23:41.98) and Courtney Lyons (157th, 24:59.96).

No one advanced from the Northmor boys team from Pickerington. Running for the Knights were AJ White (46th, 17:55.60), James Walker (65th, 18:20.62) Mostyn Evans (78th, 18:34.41), Ryan Bentley (81st, 18:36.75), BJ White (90th, 18:53.41), Kaleb Hart (94th, 19:00.36) and Manny Heilman (118th, 19:58.73).
