Northmor girls headed to state cross country meet

PICKERINGTON — Led by Northmor’s Jessica and Kristen Duryea, Northmor’s girls cross country team is headed to Hebron for Saturday’s state cross country meet at National Trail Raceway.

Jessica Duryea finished 17th in a time of 20:43.66 and Kristen Duryea crossed the line in 20th place with a time of 20:56.16 to lead the Knights to a second-place finish in the team standings.

Only the top 20 individuals and top five teams in Division III moved on from the Pickerington regional meet.

Other runners for the Knights were: Maddie Jordan (33rd, 21:43.12), Samantha Peters (38th, 21:59.86), Julianna Ditullio (47th, 22:23.53), Maria Lee (53rd, 22:28.44) and Brooke Bennett (104th, 24:24.18).

Kyleigh Edwards from Lancaster Fairfield Christian won the race in a time of 18:46.44.

Tuscarawas Valley won the regional tournament. Northmor was second, Columbus Academy third, Fredericktown fourth and Mount Gilead fifth. All are headed to Hebron.

Mount Gilead freshman Baylee Hack finished ninth in the girls race, in 20:23.78.

She will be joined at National Trail Raceway by Darcy Picker (24th, 21:21.73); Hannah Bush (26th, 21:28.93); Bridgette Millisor (67th 22:49.77); Micah James, (84th, 23:18.91) Madison Fitzpatrick (91st, 23:31.84); Makayla Weaver (91st, 25:01.09)

The Division III girls race at Hebron, with Northmor, Mount Gilead and Fredericktown, starts at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, followed by Division II at 2:15 p.m. and Division I at 3 p.m.

No one advanced from the Northmor boys team. The race was won by Mount Gilead’s Austin Hallabrin in a16:19.30.

The team from Leesburg Fairfield won the event as a team.

Mount Gilead was second and will send it’s entire team to Hebron on Saturday.

For Northmor AJ White was the top finisher, in 46th place with a time of 17:55.60. Also running were James Walker (65th, 18:20.62) Mostyn Evans (78th, 18:34.41), Ryan Bentley (81st, 18:36.75), BJ White (90th, 18:53.41), Kaleb Hart (94th, 19:00.36) and Manny Heilman (118th, 19:58.73).

Joining the Indians’ Hallabrin will be Casey White (9th, 16:57.99) Liam Dennis (22nd, 17:26.50 17); Nick Weiss (25th, 17:31.43); Kyle White (67th, 18:22.94) Trevor Ball (89th, 18:50.48) and Brandon Stevens (96th, 19:04.79).

The boys races start at 11 a.m. with the Division III race. The Division II race is at 11:45 a.m. and the Division III race is at 12:30 p.m.
